Nuclear Safety Advisor
About the Job:
Play a key role in shaping nuclear safety capability within one of Australia’s most significant national programs.
As Nuclear Safety Advisor, you’ll support the development and continuous improvement of nuclear safety frameworks, working at the forefront of regulated, high-risk infrastructure aligned to the AUKUS program.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll influence how nuclear safety is embedded across the organisation. You’ll work across governance, systems, and projects—providing specialist advice while helping drive a strong safety culture and stewardship mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
You’ll contribute across a broad scope, including:
- Developing and maintaining nuclear safety plans, processes, and arrangements
- Supporting the rollout of Nuclear Safety Management Systems and stewardship initiatives
- Providing trusted advice on nuclear safety, radiation protection, and risk management
- Managing safety records, documentation, and compliance information
- Supporting governance forums through reports, briefs, dashboards, and registers
- Assisting with audits, inspections, and internal reviews
- Contributing to delivery of nuclear safety projects and initiatives
About You:
You’re a detail-oriented professional who thrives in complex, regulated environments and genuinely cares about safety outcomes.
You will also bring:
- A degree in science, engineering, or equivalent technical experience
- Extensive experience in nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated industries
- Experience developing technical documentation (reports, procedures, guidelines)
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate and deliver projects
- A proactive mindset, with curiosity and a systems-thinking approach
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style
- A clear commitment to safety culture and continuous improvement
Eligibility:
