BAE Systems Maritime Australia has been engaged to deliver nine Hunter Class Frigates, which will be one of the most advanced anti-submarine warships in the world.

The Hunter Class will provide Australia with the highest levels of lethality and deterrence whether operating independently or as part of a task force. It will have the range and endurance to operate effectively throughout the region, and also provides the flexibility to support non-warfare roles such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

Prototyping for the HCFP commenced at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in December 2020.
