About the Role:

Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is the owner, developer and manager of the Osborne Naval Shipyards, supporting the Commonwealth’s Naval Shipbuilding Plan. ANI is responsible designing, constructing and managing the shipyard infrastructure, including the new Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard to support the AUKUS program, and operating and maintaining common use facilities.   

ANI plays a pivotal role in delivering Australia’s naval shipbuilding capability, contributing to one of the nation’s most significant and complex infrastructure programs. Based in Adelaide, our work underpins the future of naval shipbuilding through world-class infrastructure at Osborne. 

ANI has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nuclear Compliance Lead to join the Nuclear Stewardship team in Adelaide. In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of ANI’s nuclear compliance activities, ensuring regulatory, licensing and permitting obligations are met. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and regulators to strengthen governance arrangements, support inspections and audits, and drive continual improvement across ANI’s nuclear regulatory framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and evaluating relevant obligations, commitments and representations contained within ANI’s Licensing and Permitting Basis. 
  • Create and implement internal controls and compliance manuals to guide ANI’s adherence to and management of nuclear regulatory compliance. 
  • Establish arrangements for demonstrating compliance with ANNPS Licence and ASNO Permitting conditions. 
  • Conduct regular independent, objective audits to detect potential non-compliance, reporting on findings and recommending corrective actions. 
  • Track implementation of audit recommendations from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring collection, verification and consolidation of technical and organisational information, ensuring timely resolution of findings. 
  • Support ANI’s interactions with regulatory bodies, including facilitating ANNPSR Inspections. 
  • Build strong relationships across ANI to influence and support continuous improvement. 
  • Assist in developing schedules and documentation structures, ensuring alignment with established templates, guidance materials, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Maintain document control and version management for all materials to ensure auditability and alignment with ANI’s quality and regulatory processes. 

About You:

You are a highly organised compliance professional with strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively across a broad range of stakeholders. You have experience within highly regulated environments and can confidently support compliance activities, audits, regulatory engagements and assurance processes. You are a strong communicator who can translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes. 

You will also have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in this role, or equivalent. 
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to draft, organise and format compliance documentation. 
  • Ability to coordinate and track information inputs from multiple internal stakeholders and external entities. 
  • Competence in supporting regulatory correspondence. 
  • High attention to detail with the ability to undertake quality checks for accuracy, traceability and consistency. 
  • Prior experience in compliance, auditing, risk management or regulatory affairs. 
  • Australian citizenship and otherwise eligible to gain and maintain any required security clearances required for a Defence related facility. 

Eligibility:
